Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer

Ok, so the new Spider-Man movie is almost here, US release date is June 7th, 2017.  I am a fan of both Toby Maguire’s & Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, however I think they are getting better with each one.  It’s looking like our newest friendly neighborhood Tom Holland will be at the top of the list.  First, I love that they are sticking with the comics and having Peter actually have manual web slingers instead of creepy little buttholes on his wrist.

In case you forgot, spiders shit their webs out of their butts.  

As far as the story goes it appears to be very typical, Peter is a socially awkward teenager and has to juggle dealing with school and the girl he pines for along with proving himself to the Avengers and more important to Tony Stark.  Since we have already been introduced to this Spider-Man and he already is, well, Spider-Man I’m not sure how much of an origin story we are going to get.  I am actually torn here because I do love a god origin story, but then we are for lack of a better term, wasting an entire movie and a couple of years which we don’t have.  I’m hoping that we at least get some flashbacks to show him becoming The Spider-Man.

Another interesting note, that I know I’m not the first to point out, but with each successive Spider-Man movie, Aunt May get’s younger and younger, LOL! See for yourself:

The most recent incarnation of Aunt May is none other that Marisa Tomei.  I know Aunt May and Uncle Ben have always been much older in the comics, but there is no real reason for that.  If Uncle Ben is older than Peter’s father, realistically, wouldn’t be much more than 5 years older.  Peter’s parents were failrly young when they died and we are picking up roughly 10 years later.  Aunt May should at the most be early 40’s.  I don’t know how Tomei will do in the roll but Marvel is getting closer.

I’m still very excited to see Spider-Man: Homecoming and how it will fit into the whole Marvel Universe right now.  Can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
