DuckTails Reboot

Life is like a hurricane, here in Duck Burg
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes, it’s a duck blur
Might solve a mystery, or rewrite history!

Duck Tales (woo ooh)
Everyday they’re out there making,
Duck Tales (woo ooh)
Tales of daring-do bad and good
Luck Tales (woo ooh)

D-D-Danger lurks behind you
There’s a stranger out to find you
What to do? Just grab on to some

Duck Tales (woo ooh)
Everyday they’re out there making,
Duck Tales (woo ooh)
Tales of daring-do bad and good
Duck Tales (woo ooh)

Not pony tails or cotton tails
No, Duck Tales (woo ooh)

Okay, now that I got that out of my system.  I don’t know about you, but I can’t see or hear that opening without singing along, and I most certainly can’t do it without a smile on my face.  For me and for many of you as well I’m sure, it’s a throwback to childhood.  This show was pure cartoon innocence and fantasy.

I know this review is a bit late, but it looks like it only took a couple of years after the announcement that after 30 years (Holy shit that was 30 years ago!) we finally are blessed with a reboot.

I could not have been more excited about this reboot and after watching the first trailer, I’m still very excited, albeit a bit disappointed in a few areas.  Let’s start with the good, and there are SO MANY good things about this.  The fact that they are staying true to the original show and even to the comics before is a breathe of fresh air, like slipping out of that warm sleeping bag, unzipping your dew covered tent and standing up, stretching both arms up toward the sky with everything you have, enjoying that brisk break of dawn and watching your breath as you exhale pure happiness.  Alright, that got away from me a bit, but you get the idea.

It looks like they are bringing back all the classic characters and they will be using the same plot formula.  Characters we know about for sure from the trailer are of course Scrooge, Huey, Dewey & Louie, as well as Webby.  A lot of people had issue with her, but she never really bothered me and it looks like she will be one of the boys in this boot.

Not only the obvious main characters but we will be seeing Mrs. Beakley, Duckworth and one of my favorites, Launchpad McQuack.  However, I would have to say, and I stick by it that my favorite character (in DuckTales) will always be Gizmo Duck.  As a kid watching I would draw up my own plans to build my own Gizmo Duck suit, alas, that has yet to come to fruition.

Oh! I almost forgot the greatest thing about this reboot, the actors!  They have put together an amazing cast of actors to voice these characters including Danny Pudi as Huey, Ben Schwartz as Dewey & Bobby Moynihan as Louie with Kate Micucci as Webby. Now I know i’m forgetting someone…who haven’t I mentioned??? Ohh, that’s right Scrooge McDuck, played by the one and only, the Lord of Time, the Tenth Doctor himself, David Tenant!  I geeked out majorly when I heard he was voicing Scrooge.

Now for the bad, and with what we have to see so far, I can’t really find much.  The only thing that is seriously irking me is the the shape of the Huey, Dewey & Louie’s heads!  I mean, have you seen them?  Everyone else’s heads are round, and these three are walking around with squircles! (Look it up)  Other than that, I’m pretty pleased with what I’ve seen so far and think they’re off to a great start.
